Sandwell officers discovered the set-up at around 10am this morning after sawing through the shutters of the premises on Fisher Street.

Once inside, a large cannabis factory was revealed containing ten large grows of around 1,000 plants.

Two men found on the premises – a 33-year-old and a 36-year-old – were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. They remain in police custody where they are being questioned.

Inspector Matt Morgan said: "This appears to have been a professional set-up capable of producing a large quantity of drugs, which will now be destroyed and unable to cause harm to people in our communities.

"Tackling drugs is a priority for us and we hope that raids like this show residents that we do act on the information we receive and will prompt more people to come forward about criminality in their area."
