Woman cut free from car after M6 smash

A woman was taken to hospital after a car collided with a HGV on the M6, causing delays in the Black Country.

Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway of the motorway, between junction nine, for Wednesbury, and junction 10, for Walsall at 12.15pm this afternoon.

A woman was removed from a Vauxhall Corsa after firefighters cut the roof off the vehicle.

She was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital after she complained of neck pain.

There was also an ambulance crew and a rapid response vehicle on hand at the scene.

A lane was temporarily closed until 1.42pm, causing a backlog of traffic.

Crews left the scene at 1.13pm.

The damage to the vehicles from the collision was minimal.
