Wombourne Civic Centre was full of elegant dresses, suits and twinkle toes to match when professional dancing star Trent Whiddon waltzed his way onto the dance floor on Saturday.

Trent, who appeared in the popular BBC show for the first time last year, came along with his Slovenian born wife Gordana Grandosek – also a professional dancer – to teach more than 200 dancing enthusiasts some of the basic moves in ballroom dancing.

Australian born Trent danced with pop star Pixie Lott in the last series – the first without its usual presenter Sir Bruce Forsyth.

And speaking to the Express & Star, Trent said he was surprised how gripped the nation were with the show.

"We are really excited to be here, it's our first time here in Wombourne and it is a lovely place," he said.

The night filled with twists and turns in Wombourne was organised by the Zig Zag Dance Factory – a dance school for all ages which runs classes in Wombourne, Wolverhampton, Oldswinford and other areas.
