A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they had dealt with drivers and passengers from three of the cars involved.

A woman and her son were able to climb out of their car but the woman had suffered a fractured wrist and the boy had abdominal 'tenderness'. Both were taken to Sandwell Hospital for treatment.

A man from a second car was taken to City Hospital as a precaution and the occupant of a third car declined treatment and made their own way home.

Two ambulances, a rapid response paramedic and a paramedic area support officer in a rapid response vehicle attended the scene.

Drivers faced delays near the accident which happened in this morning's wet conditions.
