The fundraising show at Newhampton Arts Centre was announced this morning and limited tickets went on sale at midday. They were only available to members of the Blur fan club and The Social, a club night run in conjunction with regulars at the Whitmore Reans arts centre.

Venue manager Chris Brown said 250 tickets were available costing £25 each and limited to two per person.

"The tickets went on sale at midday, promptly, and sold out in two seconds," he said. "Unfortunately there are a lot of disappointed people but it doesn't matter if it's Wembley or here, there are only so many tickets."

No more tickets for the June 6 show will be released, as the venue is now at capacity.

Due to budget cuts, the venue has lost all of its council funding and Blur crew member, Stuart Lowbridge has arranged the show as a fundraiser for the centre and RML Music, which trains young musicians and supports and records many local bands.

Blur will donate their gig proceeds to NAC and RML Music.

RML, also based at the NAC, trains young musicians and supports and records many local bands, many playing at the NAC.
