WATCH: Porkers get a pampering at Shugborough Estate

Ever seen a pampered pig? Visitors to the Shugborough Estate got to help clean up every porker at a popular event.

The estate's third public pig wash took place on the 900-acre working farm.

One of the main attractions of the May Day event was Matilda – a 50st middle white.

Matilda and her rare breed friends were treated to a scrub and massage of oil.

And being out in the holiday sunshine they also received their own sunscreen protection.

Visitors to the popular event were able to enjoy the spectacle on the hour throughout the afternoon.

A spokesman for Shugborough Estate said: "Our pigs love to be clean.

"Their favourite thing in the world is to be given a good scrub followed by a generous massage of oil and sun cream."

Visitors were also invited to take part in piggy trails where they could find out pig-related acts on the route.

There were other activities – plus baking and butter making session.

The working farm is home to more than 150 of the world's rarest breeds of pigs and sheep. Animal antics continue at the farm for the next Bank Holiday on Monday May 25.

It will then be the turn of the sheep, ducks and goats to provide the entertainment. They will be racing for the amusement of visitors.

There will also be dragon-themed trails in the Mansion House and servants' quarters. Visitors can enjoy games in the garden and view dressed up scarecrows in the walled garden.

County councillor Mark Winnington said: "The Shugborough estate provides a wonderful day out for the family with the May bank holiday weekends offering a real treat.

"The top visitor attraction is well known for its Downton Abbey style upstairs-downstairs experience.

"We aim to host fun events throughout the year and are always looking to offer something new to visitors."
