Plans for a dual carriageway to be built along Pensnett High Street have been revealed costing around £6.3 million.

Motorists often face delays along the stretch of road passing Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital.

Dudley Council is allocating £500,000 towards the scheme from its budget from the Local Transport Plan.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, who oversees transport projects in the borough, confirmed the funding plan.

"The money has been set aside for the Pensnett scheme," he confirmed.

The majority of the funding for the scheme is coming from the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (BCLEP).

The cash will come from an overall budget of almost £1.5m but decisions on other specific projects have yet to be revealed.

Money will be spent on areas including improving safety outside schools and new road signs.
