Bilston Yarn Stars have spent hours on the knitted and crocheted creations, which are on display at the town hall until tomorrow.

The group formed just over a year ago and has since attracted 20 members. Since its creation, members have worked on the Bilston in Bloom project, Halloween decorations and Christmas embroidery work.

The Yarn Stars, which run weekly sessions on Wednesday's at Holy Trinity Church in Oxford Street, has also raised more than £500 for a number of charities.

Member Liane Powell said it was nice to do something a bit different.

"A couple of our enthusiastic members came up with an idea to do a display for St George's Day and that's how it all started," she said.

"St George's Day isn't really marked by a lot of people as such so we thought it was a good idea just to do something a bit different.

"George and the dragon look absolutely brilliant. The dragon is huge and will certainly be noticeable at the town hall."

Liane will be joining the group's other members to mark St George's Day on Saturday as they try to gain new members.

The group will be out and about handing out fliers between 11.30am and 1pm in and around the Church Street area.

"We've been going for about 12 months now and its been great to receive such wonderful support," she said.

"We'd always like to have more members on board so we are trying to raise awareness of what the group is all about."

Bilston Yarn Stars is always after wool donations. If anyone has any spare wool to donate or would like to become a member they should attend one of the group's weekly sessions, which are held between 6pm and 9pm.
