Fire crews called to deal with skip blaze close to Wolverhampton school

Firefighters attended a skip fire close to a Wolverhampton school.

A large amount of cardboard was set alight within a skip near to Deansfield Community School on Deans Road from about 10.50am on Friday.

Firefighters from Fallings Park Fire Station attended the blaze and put it out before it could spread any further. Two hose jets were used to distinguish the fire.

Nobody was injured during the fire and firefighters left the scene at about 11.45am.

Dean Coombes, headteacher at Deansfield Community School, said: "The area had got very smoky as a result of the fire but fortunately it had no impact on learning activity at the school. No pupils were near to it."
