Yasar Abbas was delivering Chinese takeaway food - in what police believe to be a bogus order - when he was ambushed as he got out of his car.

Witnesses have described how three people approached the silver Vauxhall Corsa and attacked the 28-year-old.

Mr Abbas was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and sadly passed away four days later. His funeral took place on May 2, 2013, hours after his wife gave birth.

Yasar Abbas left two sons, Daniel and Mohammed. Mr Abbas never met Mohammed who was born days after his death

Mr Abbas was making the delivery from Moon Palace – a Chinese Takeaway in Old Birchills - to an address in Madison Avenue, Alumwell when he was attacked during the early hours of Saturday, April 13, 2013.

The inquest into Mr Abbas' death at Smethwick Council House last year, heard that a post mortem revealed he died of head injuries which were likely inflicted by a meat cleaver or axe.

Today marks the second anniversary of his death and police are renewing their appeal for information to find those people responsible.

During the investigation to date 10 people have been arrested and questioned, all were later released without charge.

Detective Inspector Gary Plant, who is leading the investigation, said: "It has been two years since Yasar received his fateful injuries but the investigation is on-going and will be reviewed on a regular basis until his attackers are brought to justice.

"People out there know who is responsible for the death of this young man and for the sake of his family who are still very much grieving for his loss, I am appealing to those persons to come forward and help us.

"I believe answers remain in the local community and anyone with information can come forward in the knowledge that it will be dealt with in strict confidence."

Anyone who has any information that could further the investigation should contact DI Plant on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
