The supermarket will be built on the former site of the well-known Bronx works in Dudley Road.

If granted permission, it will create 40 permanent jobs for local people, with additional jobs created through construction and supply chain opportunities.

The plans went on display at Lye Town Football Club on Stourbridge Road.

Aldi said there received 210 responses to the consultation with 94 per cent of people backing the scheme.

A spokesperson for Aldi said:"We are extremely pleased with the number of residents who attended our exhibition and are delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response we received from the local community. The majority of residents who attended the event said that Lye needs a discount food store. Many residents mentioned that they have to travel out of the area to complete their food shopping and felt that an Aldi food store in Lye would benefit the town."

Bosses are reviewing the feedback before submitting a planning application to Dudley Council.
