Ali, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taken into custody following the pursuit on February 22.

Appearing at Birmingham Crown Court on March 30 he was sentenced to 14 months behind bars.

PC Neal Drew, from the Central Motorway Policing Group, said: "Ali's actions that day were completely unacceptable and by driving the way he did he put innocent members of the public at risk.
