The 18-year-old victim was with friends outside the Kebab Ranch in Bradford Street after a party when he was repeatedly punched in the face.

He was left with a large gash above his left eye, a split lip, cut mouth and bruising to his face.

Detectives have released a grainy CCTV image of the attacker which, though lacking detail, clearly shows the attacker as a black man with a heavy muscular build.

Investigating officer, DC Richard Jackson from the Violent Crime Team in Wednesfield, said: "The offender is very distinct by his size - it's clear he works out a lot. I'm sure someone will know who it is and I'd ask them to call me.

"This is a man who teamed up with an accomplice to inflict serious injuries on a teenager he dwarfed in size. We've interviewed another man in connection with the attack but we understand the man in the CCTV image was the main offender.

"We suspect the man is from the Sandwell or Walsall area. We need to trace him to secure justice for his victim."

The offender is described as being aged between his late teens and mid-20s, around 5ft 10ins tall, and with a large muscular build.

The attack happened at around 5am on January 1. Anyone with information is urged to call DC Jackson at West Midlands Police on the 101 number, or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
