Ward three has been shut by health chiefs in a bid to contain the illness, while a bay has also been closed on ward 10.

The closures will remain in place until at least tomorrow and bosses have urged anyone who has sickness and diarrhoea symptoms to stay away.

Joanne Ellison, head of infection control for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said: "We have patients in the Manor Hospital with norovirus symptoms and we currently have one bay closed on ward 10 and ward three totally closed.

"This is so we can contain the virus in the affected areas and protect the health of our patients and their visitors."
