Trio charged after Wolverhampton charity boxing match brawl leaves man with fractured skull

Three men have been charged with affray after a brawl at a Wolverhampton charity boxing match, which saw one man left with a fractured skull.

Benji Groom, aged 28, of Prestwood Avenue, Wednesfield, Michael Spruce, aged 27, of Attlee Road, Walsall and Adam Hayes, aged 33 of Wood Hayes Croft, Wolverhampton, were charged last week after reports of punches being thrown at the Civic Hall event on October 18 at around 11pm.

Groom also faces a further charge of causing grievous bodily harm after a man received a fractured skull in the scuffle.

The trio are due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on April 9.

A woman and three men were also voluntarily interviewed over the matter and will be informed if any action is to be taken against them in due course.
