WS1 nightclub closed on March 14 and has since undergone a massive transformation.

It will reopen under the name Religion next Thursday.

A huge roof terrace has been created and a new room has been built with a huge stage area.

Other rooms have been redecorated, a DJ booth has been added and the toilets have been transformed.

Video walls and new lighting are also being installed, along with lasers and confetti cannons.

The new nightclub will feature live bands on Friday nights.

It will officially launch with special guests including Nottingham DJ Philip George, who is best known for his 2014 single Wish You Were Mine, which peaked at number two in the UK singles chart.

General manger Nick Parkinson said: "When the lighting goes in, the club is going to come to life.

"We are having video walls, confetti cannons and lasers so we can do laser shows.

"There will be VIP rooms available for hire and a very, very large roof garden.

"We've moved the bar in the loft room, put in a DJ booth and changed the colour of the room.

"There will be live band on Fridays.

"We are looking for tribute bands as well as actual acts.

"We are looking to rejuvenate the night time economy in Walsall. This is the next generation we are catering for."

The scheme is creating about 25 jobs at the Bridge Street venue and recruiting is now under way for bar staff, door staff and DJs.

Mr Parkinson added: "We have already filled some of the positions but we have more interviews planned."

The venue remains under the same ownership.
