Violent Stafford burglar sought after woman, 66, attacked in own home

A pensioner has been attacked in her Stafford home by a man pretending to deliver pizza.

The 66-year-old was struck on the head on Sunday at around 9.30pm at the property on Lancaster Road.

When she opened her front door, the offender pushed her back into the hallway and attacked her before taking off with gadget and designer jewellery.

The victim pretended to be unconscious and remained on the floor while the burglar ransacked her home.

She was later taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for observation and was released after treatment.

The offender took an Acer Aspire laptop and a white leather jewellery box which contained a number of items including watches by Gucci, Vivienne Westwood and Bulgari as well as a pair of gold and diamond earrings, two gold bangles, an 18 ct gold and diamond bracelet, four gold chains and a distinctive 9 ct gold Le Vian French ring with a wide band, diamonds and a shamrock shape in the centre.

Staffordshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to the aggravated burglary.

The offender is described as 5 ft 10 in tall, with swarthy, dark skin, dark brown eyes, dark thick eyebrows and stubble on his face.

He is of stocky build and was wearing a black woolly hat with a turn up, dark coloured scarf covering his face and a dark coloured thick jacket.

He spoke with a slight accent which may have been eastern European.
