Nick will compere the awards night at Wolverhampton Racecourse on June 11 when more than 30 firms will be vying for one of the 12 trophies up for grabs.

A familiar face on the nation's TV screens since the days of TV-AM in the 1980s, Nick has presented Midlands Today since 1997. He is almost as well-known for his love of Luton Town Football Club and has been chairman since 2008.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to being part of the evening at a time when industry in the Black Country and the wider Midlands is really picking up after such a terrible few years.

"It is always wonderful to see people given the chance to celebrate all their hard work, and they do work extraordinarily hard to make their businesses successful in such a globally competitive world. And it is great to see the excitement among the winners on the night."

Meanwhile companies have just days left to join the scores of companies that have already registered to take part in this year's Business Awards – the biggest in the event's history.

An even wider range of entries are being invited this year with firms urged to flag up their performance in the field of exports, manufacturing, innovation and best use of technology.

The hunt is also on for 2015's apprentice of the year.

The deadline to register is March 5, but companies and organisations still have enough time to apply as this year's event aims to recognise the widest-possible range of top performers in our area.

Every business, large and small, from every sector of commerce and industry, has the potential to win through as a finalist in the West Midland's biggest and best awards event.

This year's list of sponsors includes Aspray24, BDO, Carvers, EBC Group, Higgs & Sons, Jaguar Land Rover, Ladder For The Black Country, Lloyds Bank, UTC Aerospace, the University of Wolverhampton and Wolverhampton City Council.

Companies can enter up to three categories, giving them an even bigger chance of securing a place on the finalists' short-list at the Business Awards presentation evening at Wolverhampton Racecourse on June 11.

This glittering black-tie dinner now has a reputation as one of the biggest business nights of the year, with tickets selling out weeks in advance.
