Blast Off returns in count down to world record

Legendary club night Blast Off will make a grand return next month – to welcome its one millionth customer and break a world record.

The indie night, where a generation of music fans from the West Midlands spent their Saturday nights for nearly 20 years, is hoping to reach the achievement when it comes back for one night on March 28.

After what was intended to be the club's last ever night saw revellers pack out the Civic Hall in March last year, a Christmas reunion event sold out in less than a day.

The millionth customer milestone would be passed with an equally healthy turnout this time around and promoter Dave Travis is in touch with the Guinness Book of World Records to get the night listed as the most popular club night in history should it do so.

He said: "I am obsessed with facts and figures and, with people still calling for us to bring Blast Off back all the time, I decided we deserved to pass such an incredible milestone.

"This is something for not just the Civic and the team behind the night to be proud of, it is an achievement for the city of Wolverhampton."
