Home schooled Walsall 10-year-old to study maths degree

A 10-year-old from Walsall has been awarded more than just a gold star for her maths homework - she has been accepted onto a university course to study the subject at degree level.

Esther Okade has enrolled on an Open University course after achieving a maths A Level last year and passing GCSE exams in the subject aged just six.

Both Esther and her younger brother Isiah are home schooled by their mathematician mother Omonefe. Esther will study for her degree from home.

The numbers whizz has her sights set on studying for a PhD and one day wants to run her own bank.
