Jobs created at Dudley engineering firm after £250k investment

An engineering firm in Dudley is looking to take on skilled workers to boost its business following a £250,000 investment in new machinery.

Hayley 247 Engineering Service has already taken on five apprentices but have openings for other staff to increase its existing workforce of 32.

The company, based at Castle Mill Works on the Birmingham New Road, was launched in 2009. It reconditions and repairs industrial gearboxes and pumps of up to 50 tons.

It also has a general machining facility.

Bosses said the apprenticeship scheme had been a success but they still needed fully-skilled and experienced machinists and fitters.

Managing director Mark Brady said they had not set a limit on the number of people who could be taken on.

"We want people with these skills to actually come forward and make themselves known to us," he said.

"An exact number of positions has not been set.

"We will consider anyone with the appropriate experience and who could adapt their skills within the company."

He said the company had taken on five apprentices in all - three as machine tool operators, one in the mechanical engineering department and another in the offices in a customer services role.

"We are continuously investing in training in the most up-to-date methods, software and in environmental awareness," he said.

And the investment in machinery has seen the installation of machine tool equipment and three-dimensional computer aided design software.

Mr Brady said the company was looking to grow over the next five years.

It presently has a turnover of £4.25 million.

Plans are for this to reach £10 million through expansion and growth of the business by 2020.

The company specialises in aerospace, automotive, chemical, construction and transport.

It is based at 25,000sq ft factory and specialises in both engineering and analysis of systems.

The firm also refurbishes machinery and carries out breakdown and reclamation work.

Mr Brady said the firm was very proud of its accomplishments in the industry so far and wanted to build on what it has achieved.
