The van, which was carrying fridges and other electrical items, toppled over on Willenhall Street in Darlaston.

But the man, in his 40s escaped with no injuries.

The Mercedes van he was driving collided with a parked car during the smash, which happened at around 1.50pm yesterday.

The parked car was empty at the time and had its wing mirror broken off, with more damage caused to the side of the car and the windscreen.

Residents looked on as police and fire crews attended to recover the van and clear the scene.

Crews from Willenhall and Bilston fire stations were called.

Bilston Fire Station watch commander John Wildman said: "It seems the guy came round the corner a little too sharply and the van toppled over.

"There were fridges and other items in the van and it appears he was delivering them.

"It collided with a parked car which had its wing mirror broken but fortunately there was no one in the car at the time.

"The driver of the van had managed to get himself out and had no apparent injuries.

"It totally blocked the road and traffic was backing up with people have to turn around.

"We were there for about 20 minutes securing the scene until the recovery truck came to move the vehicle."
