Work starts on February 25 to resurface Renton Road, Oxley, and will be completed in two phases.

Councillor Ian Claymore said: "It is in a deplorable condition and is a real bone shaker.

"Tarmac put on top of concrete blocks in the initial construction has solidified into a series of ruts after melting in the sun over the years.

"There is a primary school and children's centre in the road which is also a busy bus route.

I and the local community are delighted that the money has been found to repair it."

The road is scheduled to be closed between its junctions with Oxley Moor Road and Sheldon Road from 8am to 4pm between February 25 and March 11, followed by the section from Sheldon Road to Probert Road between March 16 and March 20.
