Warning of major delays due to six vehicle crash on M6

Two lanes have been closed on the M6 following a collision involving six cars this morning.

Seven people were assessed at the scene by ambulance staff, two of whom were taken to hospital.

The crash happened on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 15, for Stoke-on-Trent, and junction 14, for Stafford, at around 8.45am.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, Murray MacGregor, said: "On arrival, ambulance staff found six cars that had been in collision in lane three of the motorway.

"Although a number had suffered significant front and rear end damage, none of those inside the vehicles was seriously hurt.

"A woman was taken by ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital with neck and back pain, but it not thought that it was serious.

"A man was taken to County Hospital in Stafford with chest and abdominal pain, but again this was for precautionary checks.

"A further five men were assessed at the scene and discharged without the need to go to hospital."

The incident is causing delays of around an hour.
