No trains to Saddlers home game

Saddlers fans heading to the game against Gillingham this evening are being warned no trains will be running to Bescot Stadium Station.

Pople travelling from Birmingham to London have been made to pay the most since 2010, a study has shown.

Operator Network Rail is carrying out engineering works on the railway line between Tame Bridge Parkway and Rugeley Trent Valley.

It means London Midland will not be running any services to Bescot Stadium Station or Walsall.

Replacement bus services are being put on between Tame Bridge and Rugeley Trent.

A message warning fans has been put on the club's official website.

It states: "Fans travelling to the Walsall v Gillingham fixture, which kicks off at 6pm are advised that buses will replace train services between Tame Bridge Parkway and Rugeley Trent Valley.

"There will be no train services calling at Bescot Stadium Station or Walsall."

Walsall currently sit in 15th position in League One.

It will be the first game at the Banks's Stadium since the Saddlers played Preston North End in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy semi-final, winning 2-0 on aggregate and booking their place in the final at Wembley in March.
