It is one of the world's toughest physical endurance tests – and it attracted thousands of people from across the world.

Adrenaline junkies flocked to a farm near Wolverhampton for the annual Tough Guy challenge.

Almost 5,000 people took part in yesterday's (SUN) event battling mud, electric shocks, fire and tunnels to claim the Tough Guy title.

They came from near and far – with around 1,000 travelling from overseas, some as far as Australia.

Of those who took part, 3,500 managed to finish the 200-plus obstacle course, which has been staged at South Perton Farm for almost three decades.

Organiser Billy Wilson said first to cross the finish line at yesterday's 'marvellous' event was Norway-based John Albon.

Originally from Essex, he completed the race in one hour and 39 minutes.

Mr Wilson said Albon had completed all of the 200-plus obstacles - including 350 metres of monkey bars, the longest in the world - which was 'phenomenal'.

He said: "He is just a slip of a boy but he has got some power in him."
