Caught on CCTV: Man sought after city centre needle attack

Images of a man have been released after a woman's arm was punctured with a needle outside Birmingham New Street station.

The drama happened in Stephenson Street, at around 8.30am on Christmas Eve.

Pc Don Whyte said: "The 22-year-old victim had just left the station, when a man walking past her stabbed her in the arm with what appeared to be a needle.

"He then walked off hurriedly, leaving his victim with a small puncture wound.

"Understandably, the woman was extremely distressed by this incident."

As part of their investigation officers have reviewed CCTV footage from the station and believe the man in the images has important information about this incident.

Pc Whyte said: "If you know him or saw him in the area on Christmas Eve please contact British Transport Police."
