Operators have warned that services may be cancelled, delayed or diverted between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

Signalling problems began between Dudley Port and Sandwell and Dudley stations at around 10.20am today.

But Network Rail says services may be affected throughout this afternoon.

Spokesman Jon Crampton said: "Repairs were made and now engineers are monitoring them to see if the repairs have been successful.

"There may be disruption into the early afternoon."

Train operator London Midland said Midland Metro services would be accepting tickets in the meantime.

Passengers would also be able to use tickets on National Express West Midlands buses.

Virgin Trains are also accepting tickets on certain routes.
