Trust boss Mark Hackett had to speak loudly at the scrutiny meeting about County Hospital services as his voice was almost drowned out by the sound of whistles and drums outside.

It was the first time that Mr Hackett had addressed the county council's healthy Staffordshire select committee since Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust was dissolved in November.

Under the changes the former Stafford Hospital was renamed the County Hospital and is no longer part of the University Hospitals North Midlands Trust.
