A £5 million project is under way to transform the college campus, off Hagley Road, as part of a project to modernise facilities for students.

Huge machinery has been brought in as work to landscape the campus takes place ahead of opening to staff and students in March.

Windows have already been installed with the frame of the new reception area is having its finishing touches.

The multi-million pound building will also house the Centre of Excellence for Health and Social Care and Early Years and other teaching and learning facilities.

Those arriving at the campus will see new silver columns which feature on the outside of the building giving support to a canopy.

Construction workers are expected to complete the project by the end of February ready for staff and students to move in the following month.

Works come following a separate £1 million revamp of the college's A Level and IT classrooms and science laboratories.

Campus head, Wendy Stevens, said staff were delighted with the works so far to create an eye-catching new campus for students.

"We're really excited to see the £5 million redevelopment of the main building on Hagley Road looking so spectacular," she said.

"Our students and staff are really looking forward to moving in to the impressive new, purpose built facilities at the beginning of March.

"As well as providing a new Centre of Excellence for Health and Social Care and Early Years, our new reception area and high quality teaching and learning facilities will complement the recent refurbishment of our A Level and IT classrooms, Science Laboratories and the creation of a new engineering workshop on site."

The college is part of the Birmingham Metropolitan College which is also linked with Kidderminster College.

It has an academy in the listed Piano Building in Kidderminster town centre and an art and design campus in Brierley Hill.
