Elderly woman rescued from Black Country flat fire

Firefighters rescued an elderly lady from her Aldridge home after a pan fire tonight.

The kitchen of the property in Hobs Hole Lane was severely damaged after cooking was left unattended.

Fat in a frying pan was left unattended and caught fire – spreading to an extractor fan and cupboards.

Firefighters from Aldridge and Walsall arrived at the home at around 6.45pm.

Two firefighters entered the building and helps an elderly woman with mobility problems to the safety of her garden.

Her husband had already made his way outside.

The fire was extinguished by the firefighters.

The kitchen and parts of the ground floor of the property were severely damaged by the fire and smoke.
