Lichfield District Council received a complaint in July about scrap metal being stored at the front of The Cottage of Content pub, Queen Street, in Chasetown.

John Jukes had been illegally operating as a mobile scrap metal collector and storing his spoils at the premises.

Jukes, of Saint Anne's Close, Chasetown, pleaded guilty and was fined £1,300 and told to pay £700 costs and charges.

The council also prosecuted a Walsall firm that dumped waste on land in Lichfield. James O'Sullivan, of Sullivan Holdings Ltd, Coppice Side Industrial Estate, pleaded guilty to fly-tipping and was ordered to pay £1,020.
