Oldbury cannabis factory discovered after house fire

A fire led to police discovering a hidden cannabis factory at a house in Oldbury.

West Midlands Fire Service attended the property first at around 8.20am this morning after reports of a fire.

They forced entry to the property and discovered the fire under the staircase which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

Firefighters then requested the attendance of West Midlands Police who discovered the stash.

Police seized 55 plants in total for destruction and no arrests have yet been made.

West Midlands Police Cannabis Disposal Team (@CDTWMP) tweeted: "The danger of cannabis farms has been highlighted once again today following a house fire in Vernon Road, Oldbury. Thankfully nobody injured."
