The Crown House, in Green Street, was last used as a cosmetic surgery four years ago.

Estate agents Connells is listing the three-storey site, which can be turned into 18 apartments under approved plans.

Councillor Susan Downing welcomed the move to convert the building. She said it had become a target for vandals in recent years.

She said: "I think we should be making much better use of old buildings like this, instead of knocking them down.

"It's been in a poor state for quite sometime, so it's good to see some action being taken."

Connells have put no price on the sale listing.

Plans to convert the building were approved by Sandwell Council last year.
