The vehicle was wrecked in the crash in Pelsall High Street in the early hours of yesterday.

The BMW Z3 had hit a large plant pot and two road signs, leaving the woman in her 30s trapped in the car.

Firefighters from Bloxwich cut off the car's roof after the side of the vehicle was badly smashed in, leaving them unable to open the door.

Emergency services were called at 1.55am, with two fire crews and an ambulance being sent to the scene.

A nearby resident who asked not to be named said: "It looked pretty nasty. I'm surprised no-one was badly hurt, as the car was a mess.

"When I saw all the fire engines and the paramedics I thought it was really serious so I'm glad it sounds like the driver is going to be ok."

Bloxwich fire crews tweeted: "Force of impact enough to destroy 2 road signs & tear a front wheel off the car. Driver escaped with minor injuries."

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Chris Kowalik said: "We were called to reports of a car in collision with a large plant pot.

"A woman in her 30s was treated for minor injuries and taken to Walsall Manor Hospital."
