A number of thefts have been reported at Bushbury Cemetery and Hall Green Cemetery in the past three weeks, with lanterns and statues among the tributes stolen.

On Tuesday police swooped on an address in the Scotlands area of the city following a tip-off from a member of the public who had unwittingly bought some of the items. The individual had recognised the items as being similar to those pictured in articles published in the Express & Star detailing the thefts.

When officers raided the man's property they found 33 statues and statuettes, police say.
