Lara won gold at this year's Cake International held at the NEC in Birmingham.

She also won silver in the large decorative exhibit section for her cake based on Tyrion Lannister a character in the TV series Game of Thrones.

After scooping a gold medal last year for her Jack Sparrow cake, a 5ft 5in edible lookalike that took 90 hours to make over several weeks this time the 28-year-old decided to make two cakes in different sizes to properly show off her talents.

She has spent 250 hours over three months making the models of Tyrion and Katniss.

The combined effort took 150 eggs, 10kg each of flour, butter and sugar, 2kg natural yoghurt, 5kg chocolate ganache, 10kg modelling chocolate and between 50 -100kg icing.

She said: "I'm a big fan of the Hunger Games and with the new film coming out next week, I thought it would be perfect timing for the show.

"I also love Game of Thrones and I'm very proud that the next series is currently being filmed in my home town of Belfast, so the cakes are both tributes in a way."

The busy website administrator created her supersize cakes in an extension built on to the kitchen of the Brownhills home she shares with her partner and in-laws.

Last year's entry was filled with rice crispies and marshmallow but this year she wanted to showcase her baking talents by filling both cakes with sponge.

Lara, 28, said: "It's a risk because it's much harder to ice sponge and they were a nightmare to transport because of the risk of wobbling and cracking."
