Fork lift driver, 18, crushed beneath machinery at Willenhall firm

An 18-year-old fork lift driver was airlifted to hospital after being crushed under a piece of machinery at a Willenhall business.

The accident happened at 9.50am when the man was moving a fly press at Alpha Drive Engineering Services on Ashmore Lake Way.

He suffered leg injuries and is understood to have attempted to stop the machinery from falling off the fork lift.

The Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene and he was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

West Midlands Ambulance Service Spokeswoman Suzie Wheaton said: "An ambulance was called to Ashmore Lake Way at 9.50am. One patient was treated for leg injuries and they been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by air ambulance."
