Teens charged with drugs offences after collision

Two teenagers arrested following a collision in Perry Barr yesterday have been charged with drugs offences.

The two young men fled the scene of the collision in Crantock Road at 10.50am, but were soon detained in nearby Perry Park.

A search of their van following the incident revealed a bag of cannabis, and the pair, aged 17 and 19, were taken into police custody where they were later charged.

Iyzac Ali, of Old Walsall Road, Great Barr, was charged with possession of a Class B drug, failing to stop after a road accident, using a motor vehicle without a licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance. The unemployed 19-year-old will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on November 12.

A 17-year-old from Great Barr, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with possession of a Class B drug and was bailed to appear before Birmingham Youth Court on November 12.

The collision also involved an Audi A3, the driver of which suffered minor injuries.
