A Sunday night performance has been added to the bill in 2015, alongside the usual Friday and Saturday gigs.

The last time three concerts were held at the beauty spot as part of the Forest Live gigs was in 2008.

It will bring thousands of extra visitors to the area and has been hailed as a boost to the district's economy.

Forestry Commission spokesman James Delanoy said today: "The Forestry Commission will be looking at three nights next year at Cannock Chase Forest subject to suitable artists being available.

"This is similar to 2008 when The Zutons, Status Quo and The Charlatans all performed across the concert weekend."

The outdoor concerts will run at the Birches Valley site from July 10 to 12.

Cannock Chase Council leader George Adamson said the extra date proved how popular the Forest Live gigs were in the area.

He said: "These gigs are great for the area and bring thousands of people into Cannock Chase.

"This is excellent news. The events have always been a success and this shows they are getting even more popular."

This year, pop princess Jessie J performed a sell-out gig on the Chase, as well as The Modfather Paul Weller and all the tickets were snapped up for his show as well.

Forest Live is organised by the Forestry Commission. It sees big names play in beauty spots around the UK, with revenue from ticket sales ploughed into improving the woodland.

Previous big name performers on the Chase include Blondie, Paloma Faith, Erasure and Sugababes.

Just over 5,000 tickets are made available for each concert, meaning more than 15,000 music lovers will be able to enjoy the concerts next year.

The three acts performing in Staffordshire will be announced in the coming months.
