The crash happened on land off Oakfield Road, Wollescote, at around 4.30pm.

Paramedics say it appeared the man, in his 20s, had not been wearing safety gear at the time of the crash.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker said: "The man had suffered an open fracture of his leg and received emergency treatment at the scene, including pain relief.

"His condition was stabilised and he was transferred by ambulance to Russells Hall Hospital for further emergency treatment," he added.

"Unfortunately, it appears the man was not wearing the appropriate safety clothing when the incident occurred."
