Lorry driver accused of doing U-turn in 44ton vehicle on the M6 Toll

A lorry driver has been charged with dangerous driving after being accused of doing a U turn in his 44-ton vehicle on the M6 Toll in Staffordshire during rush hour.

Officers were called to the Toll between junctions T5 for Wall and T4 for Weeford at about 5.30pm on Thursday after the lorry was seen on camera attempting the manoeuvre as cars passed by.

The 51-year-old Lithuanian was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving by Central Motorway Policing Group.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Cannock Magistrates today.
