Jermaine Saa, 23, and Jermyle Williams, 24, both from Wolverhampton, were recorded dealing during a major police drugs investigation last year.

Mr Michael Duck, prosecuting at Birmingham Crown Court, said the two men came onto the police radar in April and May last year during Operation Sift.

He said it was the work of an undercover officer during which some events were recorded and the defendants were also subject to surveillance.

Mr Duck said that undercover officer, "Steve", was given a number for "Smiler" which turned out to be Saa, who drove to meetings in Telforf a black Mitsubishi Colt.

On April 9, 2013, Saa sold two wraps of heroin and crack cocaine for £20 and told the officer to 'call again for further business'.

The next day he arrived in the Colt and "Steve" paid £40 for a single wrap of crack cocaine.

Mr Duck said there were two further deals completed in Telford.

In May the same routine continued, with "Steve" calling Saa. Williams had been present and handed over the drugs.

Mr Duck said Williams was nicknamed "Tash" by the officer because he had a thin moustache. The deals were recorded.

The men were arrested this May during a series of police raids.

At Saa's home officers recovered 27 cannabis plants from the garden and £6,500 in cash.

Passing sentence at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Simon Drew said the two men had been trading in addictive drugs and were aware of what they could do to people.

He said it was no excuse that the defendants became involved in selling heroin and crack cocaine to pay off their own drug debts.

Saa was jailed for three years and nine months and Williams for three years for their role in drug dealing in April and May last year.

Saa, of Marksbury Close, Dunstall, and Williams, of Farndale Avenue, Whoitmore Reans, had both admitted five joint charges of supplying quantities of drugs in May last year.

Saa had also admitted four charges of supplying crack cocaine and heroin on dates in April last year. He also admitted producing cannabis and an offence of being in possession of criminal property, £6,500 in cash, both discovered on his arrest in May this year.

The court heard that Saa was sorry for his actions and had made poor decisions and Williams bitterly regretted his involvement and had brought shame on his family.
