Wolverhampton Council's planning committee, chaired by councillor Linda Leach, will vote on the scheme which would be built opposite New Cross Hospital.

The project includes 14 flats and will create 60 new jobs.

If permission is granted, the centre will be built on a temporary car park opposite the main hospital in Wolverhampton Road.

It has attracted 16 objections with residents expressing concerns about parking problems.

The site had previously been occupied by a listed barn, but this was demolished following a fire, he said.

Since 2009 the site, which backs onto the Wyrley and Essington Canal and Bentley Bridge Leisure Park, has been used as a pay-and-display car park.

Concerns have also been expressed about the loss of the car park, which is used by visitors to New Cross.
