Over the next few weeks, all high schools in Wolverhampton will be providing parents and children with opportunities to see what's on offer before they put forward their prepared choice of educational establishment.

Wolverhampton has 17 secondary schools which bosses say provide a diverse array of education opportunities.

Councillor Phil Page, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for schools, skills and learning, said: "If your child has recently started their final year at primary or junior school, now is the time to start thinking about their secondary school place for September 2015.

"That may seem a long way off, but it's important to remember that the closing date for applications for secondary school places is a little over six weeks away.

"The choice you will soon be making is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child's future."

"All Wolverhampton's secondary schools are holding open days and open evenings over the coming weeks, and I'd urge parents to see for themselves the facilities on offer and then highlight their preferences before the deadline of October 31."

Details of the open days and open evenings can be found at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/schoolopendays or by contacting secondary schools directly.

Parents or guardians can apply for their choice of secondary school online at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/admissions.

Those who apply online will be notified of their child's allocated school place on March 2, next year.
