Firefighters said it was "incredible" no-one was badly hurt after the parents and three teenage boys were forced to jump from the bedroom in Ruskin Street.

The mother first noticed the blaze at about 5.10am today and woke her husband and three sons.

By the time fire crews arrived within three minutes, they had already jumped into the front garden.

Flames wrecked the roof of the semi-detached house and gutted the entire first floor.

At its peak 30 firefighters were tackling the blaze, which took three hours to put out.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival at the scene crews found five people who were out of the property.

"All five occupants were assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation.

"Two teenagers were conveyed to Sandwell Hospital for further assessment and treatment whilst the three other casualties were discharged at the scene."
