But he only ran into Memorial Park, Willenhall, to get away from police who were investigating an unrelated offence, it was said.

The teenager, who cannot be named, had been ordered to stay away from the location as a condition of his bail after being accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following a 40-year-old man being stabbed in the shoulder and legs at the park in Pinson Road around 3.30pm on April 14. The victim had serious but not life- threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old had been on police bail since May pending investigations into the incident and was charged on August 16. He is due to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court to face the allegation on September 5. Miss Lynda Gadgeon, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Magistrates yesterday: "He broke the terms of his bail by going into the Memorial Park as police investigated an incident that had occurred in the road outside but he is not accused of involvement in that."

The youth, who lives in local authority accommodation, admitted breaking his bail on Sunday and Mr Mohammed Fiaz, defending, said: "It was not his intention to break the terms of his bail."

It was renewed.
