Second man dies after falling onto railway tracks

A second man who is believed to have fallen onto a railway line at Birmingham New Street station has died.

British Transport Police confirmed the other man, aged 30 from Handsworth, and also found injured on the rail line on the morning of August 7 died yesterday.

He had been discharged from Queen Elizabeth Hospital last Thursday but there is believed to have been complications.

A statement from British Transport Police said: "Specialist officers are assisting the families of both men at this extremely difficult time.

"At this stage, the incident is being treated as unexplained while officers continue their enquiries to establish the full facts which led to the men being found on the tracks with their injuries."
