Two men injured in Brownhills hit-and-run

Two men were injured, one seriously, in a hit-and-run with a van today as they walked along the pavement in Brownhills.

The collision took place at 12.50am in Hednesford Road, near to Wilkin Road.

A white van hit the two men as they were walking along the pavement and failed to stop. It was later recovered in Kingstanding, Birmingham.

One of the victims is in hospital with serious injuries. The other man was treated for minor injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said a paramedic area support officer, an advanced community paramedic, the MERIT trauma team, the West Midlands CARE team and two ambulance crews attended.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "Two men, both in their twenties were on the pavement, injured.

"One had a head injury. He was anaesthetised and his airway maintained. He was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for the attention of its major trauma centre.

"The other man had knee pain and a grazed elbow. He was taken to the same hospital."

Witnesses are urged to call police on on 101.
