Two injured in head-on smash

Two men suffered injuries in a head-on crash between two cars along a road in Great Barr.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the Aldridge Road, near to the Queslett Road junction, at around 5.40pm.

Although they were injured the drivers of both vehicles were able to get out of their cars before the emergency services arrived.

The two men were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further checks and treatment.

Trauma management was carried out at the scene by fire crews and paramedics.

Aldridge Road was closed off by police as investigations into the crash got under way.

Two fire crews from Perry Barr were called and made sure both the vehicles were safe so they could be towed away.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called to two cars which had been involved in a head-on crash.

"When we arrived the two drivers were already out of their vehicles.

"We remained at the scene to ensure the vehicles were safe."
